Event Description: Volunteer Lead
Blue Door’s Coldest Night of the Year – Richmond Hill is a fantastically fun, family-friendly walk-a-thon that raises money for people experiencing homelessness, hurt, and hunger in our community. This year, Blue Door is excited to host this campaign for the 5th year. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at Toronto Montessori School.
The Volunteer Lead oversees event volunteers by:
- Recruiting event day volunteers and assigning them roles using WAVES.
- Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, answering questions, providing guidance, and addressing any issues.
- Reaching out to volunteers as they register with a short email within 48 hours to thank them for their support.
- Emailing volunteers the Monday before event day to let them know when to arrive, what to wear, and where to park, and thank them again for volunteering.
- Help organize volunteer orientation sessions the morning of, working with specific department leads (Registration Lead, Food & Beverage Lead, etc.)
- Setting up event-day volunteer registration to greet and welcome volunteers.
- Gather feedback from volunteers about their experiences and share insights with committee.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of volunteers contact information, roles, and hours.
- Thank volunteers’ post-event and recognize them for their incredible contribution.
Volunteer Time Requirements:
- Spend approximately 5 hours per week on tasks from October-February.
- Attend bi-weekly virtual committee meetings.
- Be available to attend the event in Richmond Hill on February 22, 2025.
