HOSPICE GEORGINA – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
As Georgina grows, the number of people in need of visiting volunteers is growing along with it. Our visiting volunteers support individuals with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness, and those experiencing grief and bereavement who are in need of socialization, companionship, and enrichment in their lives. Volunteers assist through non-medical support, including conversation, silence, activities, or providing respite to a tired caregiver. Volunteers may visit in the client’s home, long-term care facility, retirement community, or other accommodations.
How can you help as a visiting volunteer? You can:
- Provide companionship
- Assist with writing, scrap booking, or story telling
- Read out loud, play cards, do crafts
- Watch TV or listen to music
- Act as a listening ear
- Provide telephone check-ins
- Sit quietly with the client
- Go on walks
- Provide respite and support to caregivers
If you are interested in volunteering and would like to join our team, we would be pleased to hear from you. Free training is provided. If you are caring and compassionate, you have the skills! Please call 905-722-9333 (ext. 5506) or email intake@hospicegeorgina.com.
