Blue Door Support Services is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist at Bingo World and Gaming Newmarket!
This vital role helps Blue Door secure a share of charitable gaming proceeds that directly fund many essential supports for the vulnerable men, women, youth, and children we serve. Volunteers will be the face of Blue Door, providing exceptional customer service, assisting players, and sharing information about how the funds raised support our most vulnerable in our community without a home.
We are in need of volunteers who are available on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. There is an option to volunteer for one to three Saturdays each month depending on your availability. To recognize your time and contribution, each volunteer will receive a $60 honorarium per shift.
All volunteers must be 18 or over and will complete an online training course and attend one session to shadow an experienced volunteer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate the gaming floor to welcome guests upon arrival and thank them for their participation when leaving.
- Maintain a tidy gaming environment by collecting used bingo products, clearing empty cups/plates, cleaning touch screens, and sorting waste into the correct receptacles.
- Respond to customer needs directly or by referring them to appropriate staff when necessary.
- Be knowledgeable about where the charitable funds are used within the community and share this information with customers if requested.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal skills; enjoy meeting new people and comfortable interacting with the public.
- Ability to represent Blue Door professionally and answer basic questions about our organization and programs.
- Attention to detail and willingness to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Ability to commit to a 2-hour shift
If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact in just 2 hours while having fun and meeting new people, please contact Barb Latour, Office Manager 905-898-1015 #5 E: volunteer@bluedoor.ca
