Member of the LDAYS Board of Directors

The Learning Disabilities Association of York Simcoe (LDAYS) is a non-profit organization established in 1976. At LDAYS our vision is to assist individuals with Learning Disabilities achieve their full potential. In doing so, we must consider three central branches of our association-our products and services, image and brand and funding. Collectively, with the help of our community, members and funders we can achieve this vision. We promote positive change through: Innovation, Collaborative Partnerships, Credible Advocacy, Informed Public Policy, and Quality Products and Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Problem solve, and make decisions.
  • To review Board package prior to meeting.
  • Submit all committee reports in a timely manner (i.e. forms, minutes, and volunteer hours).
  • To complete annual report
  • To participate in ongoing board evaluation (SWOT)
  • To attend all meetings.
  • To participate in committee projects.
  • Committee chairs will liaise with designated staff.
  • To submit committee minutes at board meetings.
  • Schedule monthly meetings.
  • To be accountable for revenue, expenses and annual planning in conjunction with the Executive Director.
  • To actively participate in all fundraising projects approved by the board.
  • To be active on at least one fundraising subcommittee.
  • To complete Director’s report as required.
  • To complete annual report.
  • Develop and update “how to manuals”.
  • Keep abreast of changing needs of the community and share those needs at the board meetings
  • Support efforts to enhance the board’s effectiveness and efficiency by participating in training, social activities and other planned events.
  • Be responsible for policy development and implementation.
  • Be an advocate for public awareness of learning disabilities and assistance in overcoming barriers.
  • Keep abreast of information regarding learning disabilities.
  • Assist newsletter editor in scanning for articles on learning disabilities.

Education:

  • Secondary School (required)

Experience:

  • Leadership: 5 years (preferred)
