Our Accomplishments
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the land we are situated on is the traditional land of the Mississauagas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek, Wendake, Haudenosaunee, Petun, and Mississauga peoples. As our work takes us across our six partnered municipalities of Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King Township, Newmarket, and Whitchurch-Stouffville, we would also like to acknowledge the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as our close neighbours and friends. It is also essential to acknowledge that this is the treaty land of the Toronto Purchase Treaty 13 and, more recently, the Williams Treaties.
We respect and honour the people of each nation and tribe who continue to live on and utilize this territory as their traditional and ancestral land.
In recognizing this land, we reaffirm that these tribes and their history are not, and will never be, forgotten. We are committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect, as we continue to build better, more inclusive communities together.
