About the Role
Are you passionate about food security, youth well-being and the power of social media to drive change? We’re looking for a creative and organized Volunteer Social Media Coordinator to help us build awareness and community support for student nutrition programs across York Region.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to use their digital skills to make a tangible impact in the lives of children and youth. Role is remote.
Responsibilities
- Create and schedule engaging content for Instagram and Facebook to highlight the value of student nutrition programs
- Develop a simple monthly content calendar with themes, key dates and community spotlights
- Recognize donors; share stories, photos and impact statistics to inspire local engagement and support
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages and flag any concerns or questions
- Collaborate with staff and community partners to share aligned messages and events
- Stay current on trends and best practices in nonprofit social media
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong written communication and content creation skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms (especially Instagram and Facebook)
- Experience using scheduling tools
- Interest in student well-being, food security and/or community engagement
- Ability to work independently and manage timelines
- Graphic design (Canva or similar) is a bonus, but not required
