What’s happening with Neighbourhood Network’s Programs?

As we evolve into Magna in Action, our programs are transforming—while keeping the heart of our mission intact. Here’s a breakdown of what’s happening with each program:

• Community Food Drive – We encourage you to keep donating to our charitable partners at the Aurora Food Pantry, East Gwillimbury Food Pantry, Georgina Food Pantry, King Township Food Bank, Newmarket Food Pantry, Whitchurch-Stouffville Food Bank, the Food Bank of York Region, and the York Region Food Network.
• Give Back Awards – Graduating high school students who have made positive contributions to their communities will be eligible to apply for a new scholarship award with Neighbour Media, enabled by additional funding support from Magna. Check back in 2026 for application details!
• Holiday Gift Drive – This year, our Holiday Gift Drive will continue as an internal initiative for Magna employees. The community is encouraged to donate new toys, toiletries, and gifts at each of their municipal gift drives. If you’d like to sponsor a family in need this holiday season, we’re compiling a list of trusted organizations you can reach out to. Visit our Holiday Gift Drive page for more information.
• Magna Community Fund – The Magna Community Fund will continue into 2026. In place of our usual application process, charitable recipients will be selected and contacted directly by our team based on current community needs.
• Partner Workshops – Charitable partners can access dedicated resources and new events through the Central York Chamber, which remains a key community partner of Magna’s.
• School Outreach – All 2025 programming has been completed. Guidance departments and high school students looking for volunteer opportunities can opt in to receiving emails from Neighbour Media or visit Neighbour Media’s website starting January 1, 2026.
• Spring Tree Planting – We’re excited to expand our sponsorship with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation to bring even more community restoration events to the Lake Simcoe Watershed! Details for planting events will be listed on the Neighbour Media website when available.
• Sponsorships/Donations – Magna remains committed to making charitable investments (donations or sponsorships) that support our Strategic Giving Priorities and help improve the communities around the world in which our employees live and work. Click here for more information.
• Volunteer Opportunities/Community Events – Volunteer opportunities and community events will be available through Neighbour Media as of January 1, 2026, enabled by additional funding support from Magna.

Why was this decision made?

Neighbourhood Network was founded in 2008 to meet local needs during a time when fewer resources were available. Since then, our communities have grown stronger, with more organizations, expanded services, and collaborative programs making real impact.

With a strong foundation in place, we’re transitioning programs and services back to our local partners, empowering them to lead this work moving forward. This shift allows our team to build on the success we’ve had in York Region, expanding our vision globally and deepening our impact for employees around the world as we enter a new chapter as Magna in Action.

What will happen to your website/social media accounts?

Although the Neighbourhood Network social media accounts will be deactivated and no longer updated, you can follow our Magna in Action journey through Magna’s official social media accounts. Find us on Instagram (@magna_int), Facebook (/MagnaInternational), LinkedIn (/company/magna-international), YouTube (@MagnaInternationalTV) Tiktok (@magna_int), and Threads (@magna_int).

We also encourage you to follow Neighbour Media on Facebook (/neighbourmedia), Instagram (@neighbourmedia), and YouTube (@neighbourmedia8240) for volunteer opportunities and community events and the Central York Chamber on Facebook (/centralyorkchamber), Instagram (@cychamber), or LinkedIn (/cychamber) for charity resources.

Our website will remain live as a resource hub through the end of 2025. Charities will be able to log into their existing accounts to access their volunteer opportunity and community event postings, but no new accounts or new volunteer opportunities will be created. Starting in early 2026, visitors will automatically be redirected to www.magna.com, where they can continue to access helpful materials and information

What will happen to my account and personal information after Neighbourhood Network closes?

All user accounts and personal data will be securely deleted according to Magna’s retention policies and applicable laws. Charities can log in to access information from their accounts until January 1, 2026.

Where can I post volunteer opportunities and community events now?

Through our new partnership, charitable organizations will be able to post their volunteer opportunities and community events on Neighbour Media’s website, staring January 1, 2026.

How can I attend Partner Workshops and access resources for charities?

Our charitable partners can access dedicated resources and new events through the Central York Chamber, which remains a key community partner of Magna’s.
