The Oasis Program is a group program running once a week on Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm to provide support to individuals living with a life-threatening illness allowing them to relax and socialize with people in similar circumstances.
Oasis Program Assistants aid in the running of the program by engaging and supporting clients in conversation, activities, coffee/tea and lunch.
Volunteers are able to provide support and care to individuals with a term illness and are respectful of people with diverse backgrounds, their values, beliefs, and life circumstances.
Volunteers will need excellent communication and active listening skills.
Key position responsibilities include engage in conversations with clients in a welcoming environment, assist with the preparation and running of activities for clients, greet clients as they arrive, provide one-to-one support to clients engaged in activities as needed, and assist with set up and clean up for lunch and snacks.
Training and orientation is provided.
