The Magna Hoedown Community Fund

About the Program

At Magna, giving back is a cornerstone of our Fair Enterprise Culture. We invest in our people and our communities to make positive social and environmental impacts globally, and right here at home. The Magna Hoedown is part of this legacy of giving and has united York Region residents to support charitable organizations and raise almost $14 million over three decades.

The planning required to deliver the high calibre, successful Magna Hoedown we all know and love is typically a year-long endeavour by our Neighbourhood Network team. Given the considerable lead time needed for an event of this magnitude, as well as the evolving public health guidelines related to the pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

As we all continue in the fight against COVID-19, it is more important than ever to support local charities who are providing critical services to our communities. This is what the Magna Hoedown tradition has always been about: neighbours coming together and raising much needed funds for important causes.

“In keeping with this spirit of the Hoedown, I am proud to announce on behalf of Magna and Neighbourhood Network the Magna Hoedown Community Fund benefitting thirty local charities in lieu of this year’s event,” says Swamy Kotagiri, CEO. “Thank you to our Magna employees and the community for your ongoing support of the Magna Hoedown, and for helping us spread joy, not germs throughout the pandemic.”

COVID-19 Update

For volunteer opportunities/community events of charitable partners promoted on Neighbourhood Network website:

Attending a volunteer opportunity/community event may place you in close proximity to others that could increase the risk that you contract COVID-19. You acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and understand the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at a volunteer opportunity/community event.

By attending a volunteer opportunity/community event, you voluntarily agree, on behalf of yourself, your heirs, personal representatives and/or assigns, and any minor child you may enroll to: (a) assume all of the foregoing risk and accept sole responsibility for, and waive any claims for injury, illness, damage, loss, liability or expense, of any kind (including, but not limited to, personal/bodily injury, disability, and death) that may occur in connection with attendance of a volunteer opportunity/community event; and (b) release, indemnify and discharge Neighbourhood Network and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all claims or causes of action which you may have arising out of or relating thereto, based on the actions, omissions or negligence of the Releasees, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during or after attending a volunteer opportunity/community event.
