The York Region Children’s Aid Society is seeking outstanding individuals with governance experience who live or work in York Region to serve as members of our Board of Directors. All experienced individuals are welcome to apply however, candidates fluent in French as well as those who can effectively represent the perspective of Canada’s indigenous peoples will be given priority in selection.
York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is responsible for the provision of Child Welfare services for York Region and has a budget exceeding $50 Million. Each year we field over 10,000 initial referrals, and conduct nearly 4,000 investigations. At any given time, we are providing support and counseling for over 1,000 families, and some 450 children are being cared for directly by us. We have over 300 full and part-time staff, 115 resource/ foster families and 185 volunteers.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
YRCAS is directed by a 15 member Board of Directors with accountability for the organization’s mandate, funding dollars and the safety of the children in York Region. The Board sets the strategic direction; hires and evaluates the CEO and provides governance oversight to the day to day operations. This includes monitoring the organization’s effectiveness and service outcomes through a range of performance indicators.
